The starting point
The client produces explainer videos, 2D and 3D animation, drone footage and photography for businesses. Its best sales tool is its reel, so the website had to put video first without turning into a slow page full of embeds.
Our brief on the search side was to set up the site’s technical SEO and submit it to Google and Bing.
What we did
- Phase 2: homepage and services The Phase 2 task list asked for homepage changes, a set order for the showreel videos, and a strip of third-party video marketing statistics with linked sources. It also asked for a dedicated still photography page.
- Content for the core pages Our writers drafted homepage copy in March 2023 and rewrote the services page around the studio’s animation and video strategy work.
- Gallery built from the client’s own footage In April we planned the gallery around 40 stills taken from the studio’s original videos only, and planned a spot for a well-known Australian personality’s video endorsement.
- SEO setup We added a favicon and Google tag; organization, local business, breadcrumb and sitelinks search box schema; generated and submitted the sitemap; set up Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Bing Webmaster Tools; and configured robots.txt. Off-page work covered video submissions, Web 2.0 accounts, business profiles, microblogs and directory submissions.
- Phase 4: portfolio, speed and new templates The September and October 2023 task lists added portfolio categories for construction, technology, finance, automotive and real estate clients; a gallery with a magnify view, pagination and categories; minification, caching and a CDN; a case page for an enterprise project; a blog grid and single post design; and a custom 404 page.

How the work was sequenced
The file dates give the order. Homepage copy drafts, the video arrangement docs and the Phase 2 changes came first, in March 2023. The gallery plan, a second video arrangement doc and the SEO setup report followed in April 2023.
The Phase 4 task lists are dated September and October 2023, several months after the SEO setup. Each phase was written up as a short task list with links and screenshots. If you’re planning a similar build, our website design and development page explains how we stage it.
What we’d point out
This is a delivery case study. The files don’t include traffic, ranking or enquiry data from after the work, so we haven’t claimed any. The off-page counts in our April 2023 report aren’t labeled clearly enough to quote, so we’ve left them out.
For a video-led business, page speed and gallery behavior matter as much as copy. That’s why Phase 4 paired new portfolio categories with caching and a CDN. For the search side of a project like this, see our SEO service.
