Restaurants can now switch off individual third-party ordering providers directly from their Google Business Profile, for pickup, delivery or both. Lisa Landsman, who heads SMB success work at Google, announced the control in a LinkedIn post on October 28, 2026, and Search Engine Journal reported that a Google product manager answered “all” when asked which countries have it.
What’s new
Each ordering provider listed under Food ordering in the Business Profile dashboard now has a “Manage provider” panel with a “Show provider to customers” setting. Separate switches cover pickup and delivery, according to the screenshot Landsman shared.
Before this, a restaurant asked for a provider’s link to be removed and the provider had to act on it. Google’s current help page on ordering options still describes that “Remove link” route, with providers given five business days. Search Engine Journal found that Google’s policy page for ordering providers, updated October 19, now says merchants can turn individual providers on or off through product controls, and that all partner links are switched on by default.
Who it affects
Any restaurant, cafe or takeout spot with a Business Profile that shows “Order online” or “Place an order” links. That includes owners who never added a delivery app themselves, because Google lists providers that say they have a relationship with the business. Agencies managing several locations should note that Google hasn’t said whether the setting works in bulk or through the Business Profile API.
Our take
This is a small switch that fixes a long-running complaint, and it’s worth five minutes per location this week. Open Food ordering on each profile, check which providers are live, and turn off any you’ve stopped working with or that carry an old menu. Keep the apps your regulars actually order through; Landsman herself made the case that diners stick with the apps where their payment details are saved. Then set your own ordering link as preferred if you take direct orders.
